All-Tournament Teams
Most Outstanding player: Mitch McGary, Michigan, 16.0 points, 9.6 rebounds in tournament
Mitch McGary has played great this tournament. He has scored and rebounded extremely well. He has played GREAT defense. He is the reason Michigan is in the Championship game. He has gotten them buckets when they needed it. I thought about Russ Smith here, but McGary contributes in more than one category, while Smith only contributes in points. But McGary contributes in points, rebounds, blocks, and even contributed some assists against Syracuse.
All First Team:
PG Trey Burke, Michigan, 13.8 pts, 7.0 ast
Trey Burke has had a very good tournament. He hasn't had amazing stats, but he has been VERY clutch. At the end of the Kansas game, he played amazing. He was unstoppable, leading them to a huge win. His shot at the end of that game was the shot of the tournament. Here it is:
That shot was sooooooo clutch. If I was a big Michigan fan, I would have given up. But, yet again, Trey Burke comes through. There is a reason he won the Wooden Award. He is a star. If I had the number 1 pick in the NBA draft, I would draft Burke.
SG Russ Smith, Louisville, 25.0 pts, 2.2 ast
Russ Smith is a great player. He is an amazing, pure scorer, probably the best in college basketball. He is so fast and also so quick, and such a great finisher, it makes him almost impossible to stop. Wichita State couldn't stop him in the second half. During that half, he just kept on getting to the rim and making shots. After all, the game of basketball is about BUCKETS. Russ Smith gets BUCKETS (no not buckets of water, I mean basketball shots). Smith will continue to come through in the championship game, but I think his team will come short.
PF Cleanthony Early, 16.2 pts, 7.6 reb
I bet many of you recognize this name from a previous list. Early was also on my surprise player list. And now he is on this list. I think he is the next Carmelo Anthony. He is a great inside-out player, who has played great this tournament. He had some key tip-ins against Louisville, and although Wichita came up short, he had a great game. He can shoot the 3, rebound, and also is an amazing athlete, who can score at a great rate. I think he is an NBA player.
PF CJ Fair, Syracuse, 15.4 pts, 6.0 reb
CJ Fair played great for Syracuse, but they fell short of making the final. CJ Fair is a skinny roughly 6 foot 8 guy, who is a good shooter and a very good scorer and rebounder. (also I'm lovin' the headband) Anyway, he is kind of a stiff mover, but he is slippery, and can get to the basket well. He is a good finisher, and came up big with 22 points versus Michigan. He really played well, and although he is not a big big man, (he is a small one) he is still very talented.
C Mitch McGary, 16.0 pts, 9.6 reb
