NBA Draft Special
Top 10 Picks Analysis
1. Anthony Bennett, Cavaliers, PF
NBA Comparison- Zach Randolph
This was a HUGE surprise! Anthony Bennet going 1 overall! It was a good pick though. They didn't reach for Nerlens Noel, and instead picked a solid Power Forward, who may eventually be an All-Star.
Grade: B+
2. Victor Oladipo, Magic, SG
NBA Comparison- Andre Iguodala
This is a very solid pick. Oladipo has good upside, and could turn into an Andre Iguodala type player, with his athleticism, and defense.
Grade: B+
3. Otto Porter, Wizards, SF/PF
NBA Comparison- Jeff Green
I am not very high on Porter. He fits their system, and went to college in DC, but he is just not crazily talented.
Grade: C+
4. Cody Zeller, Bobcats, C
NBA Comparison- Brook Lopez
I think that this is a solid pick for the Bobcats. They don't need high-upside guys, they need guys who will be NBA starters, and good ones, too. Zeller is very underrated in my opinion.
Grade: B
5. Alex Len, Suns, C
NBA Comparison- Marc Gasol
Len could turn into a very good defender, as he is already a great shot-blocker. He needs to improve his jumpshot, but has high potential. Good pick.
Grade: B+
6. Nerlens Noel, 76ers, PF/C
NBA comparison- Joakim Noah
Noel was picked by the Hornets and then traded to the 76ers with a 2014 first round pick for Jrue Holiday. I think that the trade was bad for the 76ers, C grade, and good for the Hornets, A grade. The pick, in my opinion was a B, as I am not very high on Noel and his injury. So, the average grade of the 3 is B, which is what I will use.
Grade: B
7. Ben McLemore, Kings, SG
NBA Comparison- Dwyane Wade
McLemore is going to be a star. I think he could be the next Dwyane Wade with a better shot. He really has a beautiful jump shot, almost Ray Allen like. His athleticism is great, and he will get past his quiet personality.
Grade: A+
8. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Pistons, SG
NBA Comparison- Joe Johnson
Caldwell-Pope probably won't be as good as Joe Johnson, but they are similar players. This was a decent pick.
Grade: B
9. Trey Burke, Utah Jazz, PG
NBA Comparison- Deron Williams
Burke was drafted by the Timberwolves, and traded to the Jazz. I would give both teams an A for the trade. This was the best pick in the draft, and the Jazz need a point guard. Burke is clutch and an all-around great player.
Grade: A+
10. CJ McCollum, Trail Blazers, PG/SG
NBA Comparison- Damian Lillard
CJ McCullom will be an NBA all-star within his first 3 years. He is a great scorer, and passer, and is great off the pick and roll. Superb pick!
