NBA Playoffs 3 Questions

Before I start my post, I wanted to say that the NBA has lost so much.  First Derrick Rose, then Rajan Rondo, then Kobe Bryant, and now Russell Westbrook.  The NBA has to become a game where players stop hurting their knees and feet/ankles.  There have been so many victims.  Yao Ming lost his career to it, Al Jefferson tore his ACL, and still isn't the same.  So many teams are losing their title chances to mid to lower leg injuries.  These injuries leave a lasting effect on not only the player that suffers the injury, but the entire NBA as well.

Do the Warriors have any chance of beating the Spurs with David Lee? How about with him?

David Lee may or may not come back again in the Warriors vs. Spurs series.  I think that they have a chance to beat the Spurs with or without David Lee.  Having David Lee would certainly help, but they can win it either way.  Lee racks up more stats than he is a good player.  He averages many points and rebounds (18.5 pts, 11.2 reb).  Stephen Curry is the reason why they can win the series without Lee.  He has been the playoff MVP so far.  When he is hot, and shooting well, he is unstoppable, PERIOD.  He is in my opinion, the best shooter in the NBA right now (Ray Allen was a better shooter than he is now, and used to be better than Curry is now).  Even without David Lee, they still have a SUPERB backup PF (Carl Landry).  Landry is definitely the best backup power forward in the league and has been an above average starter when he has started in the past few years.  Landry can definitely help carry the load.  Significantly.  And don't you worry, Lee will be back.

Do the Thunder have any chance of winning a title without Russell Westbrook?

Yes, maybe.  Possibly.  They would need Durant to score 40 a game, and Reggie Jackson and Ibaka to come up huge.  But still I think it will be extremely hard.  But I would be surprised if they did it.  They can definitely make the finals with this crew, as the Nuggets and Clippers are now out and the Spurs are old, too old.  The real challenge will be beating the heat.  They will need Reggie Jackson to step up and average 15 and 5 and 5 (15 pts 5 reb 5 ast).  They will need Ibaka to be a defensive force on Chris Bosh and same with Thabo Sefolosha on Dwyane Wade.  They will need Ibaka and others to score.  They will need Kevin Martin to get hot.  But most of all, they need Durant to motivate the team and really carry them.  If he is a Hall of Famer, he really needs a title.  I think these things can happen.  It is not out of the question.  Durant may still step up and get his first title.

Can anyone beat the Heat?

I did say the Thunder could step up and beat the heat.  But the big word here.  COULD.  For now, the answer is no.  Teams need to prove themselves.  But let's look at the other  7 remaining teams anyway.

Percent Chance
Bulls: 0.5 % No way.
Spurs: 1%  Pretty much impossible.
Thunder: 5 %, like I said BIG IF.
Knicks: 0.7% No chance.
Warriors 4% Like I said, Stephen and Landry could lead the way.  Lee will help.  But still small chance.
Grizzlies: 0.1% Tiny tiny tiny chance.
Pacers: 1.5% Very small chance.

So the verdict is pretty much: NO
with a tiny tiny tiny chance of it happening.

My pick for the Final Four: Thunder vs. Warriors
                                          Pacers vs. Heat

Final:                                  Heat vs. Warriors

Champion:

The Warriors long run ends here.  The Heat are crowned the title we all know they deserve.  The big question now: Is Lebron in the same category as Michael Jordan?
The answer: NO, for now.
